Price ranges by project type
The following guide prices apply to projects professionally delivered by a Swiss agency, excluding VAT. Off-the-shelf website builders that you piece together yourself are cheaper — but then the design, the technical side and search-engine readiness are down to you.
| Project type | Typical scope | Guide price |
|---|---|---|
| Landing page | One page, one offer, one goal (enquiry, booking, download) | CHF 3,500 to 6,000 |
| Company website | 5 to 10 pages, contact form, blog optional, CMS included | CHF 8,000 to 15,000 |
| Online shop | Product catalogue, shopping cart, payment provider, shipping | CHF 14,000 to 30,000 |
| Web app / platform | Login, customer area, processes, interfaces | from CHF 25,000 |
These ranges are deliberately broad. A company website with five pages and text you supply yourself is a different project from one with ten pages, three languages and an appointment booking. With our pricing calculator, you put your project together block by block and see straight away how each decision affects the price.
The six biggest price drivers
1. Custom design instead of a template
A template saves time, but looks like a thousand other sites. A custom design translates your brand into layout, typography and imagery, and costs 20 to 40 per cent more depending on how ambitious it is. Animations, 3D effects or elaborate scroll experiences add further to that.
2. Number of pages and templates
What matters is less the number of pages than the number of different page types. Twenty project pages on the same template are cheaper than five completely different pages.
3. Content: text and images
The most underestimated cost item. If you supply finished text and photos, the price goes down. If the agency takes on concept, copywriting and imagery, it goes up — but then the content is search-engine optimised and written for your target audience. Budget CHF 180 to 300 per page for professional copywriting.
4. Multilingualism
Almost standard in Switzerland, often forgotten in the budget. Every additional language means translation, upkeep and technical setup (language switcher, hreflang tags for Google). Each language typically adds CHF 1,000 to 1,800.
5. Features and integrations
Contact form, appointment booking, newsletter integration, payment provider, CRM or ERP: every feature is its own small building block. Standard features such as a form cost a few hundred francs. Budget CHF 1,500 to 3,000 for online payments with Twint and card, while custom integrations can run to several thousand francs. Read more in the article Twint & card payment on your website.
6. Time pressure
A company website typically takes us four to six weeks. If it absolutely has to go live within four weeks, we schedule additional capacity. An express surcharge of 15 to 25 per cent is standard in the industry; ours is 20 per cent.
Ongoing costs after launch
A website isn’t a one-off purchase. Budget for these recurring items:
- Domain: CHF 15 to 40 per year for a .ch address.
- Hosting: CHF 10 to 60 per month, depending on the platform and traffic. Hosting in Switzerland is often a little more expensive, but makes data protection easier.
- Maintenance and security: updates, backups, monitoring and small adjustments. As a subscription from around CHF 49 per month.
- Further development: new pages, campaigns, SEO. Budget roughly 10 to 20 per cent of the build cost for this every year.
How to compare quotes
Two quotes for CHF 6,000 and CHF 14,000 rarely describe the same project. Check these points before you compare:
- Is the design custom, or is it based on a template?
- Who supplies the text and images, and are they optimised for search engines?
- Which features are included, and which cost extra?
- Are the SEO basics included: meta data, structured data, redirects for old URLs, load-time optimisation?
- Can you maintain the content yourself, does the CMS cost extra, and is training included? With us, the CMS and one hour of training are always included.
- Who owns the website and domain once the project ends?
- What does running it cost after launch, and what does that include?
The cheapest quote is often the one where the expensive questions only get asked after you’ve signed.
Where it pays to save, and where it doesn’t
You can save by starting with fewer pages and expanding later, by supplying your own text (ideally with editing support from the agency), and by doing without special features that only a few visitors ever use.
You shouldn’t save on structure, loading speed and how the site displays on mobile. More than half of all visits now come from smartphones, and a slow or unclear page costs you enquiries, every day, for years.
